practical action    Practical Action (£200) uses technology to challenge poverty, working with poor women and men around the globe. This involves using technology for agriculture production, construction of houses and schools, fisheries, livestock, food processing, information and communication, water and sanitation, transport infrastructure as well as many others.  http://practicalaction.org

 

embrace  Embrace the Middle East (formerly BibleLands) (£400) supports partner organisations that provide healthcare for some of the Middle East’s poorest people. They support schools and vocational training centres that allow children and young people from disadvantaged families to gain a good education and become able to earn a living.  http://www.embraceme.org/

 

Bansang logoBansang Educational Appeal (£400).   Annabel Kerr, a member of our congregation, went out to the Gambia in West Africa to work with the isolated, third world hospital charity that was originally founded by Anita Smith in1992.   On her return Annabel, she set up an educational appeal and this is the charity we support   http://bansangeducationalappeal.org/

remapRemap (£400) is a national charity working through local groups of skilled volunteers to help people with disabilities achieve independence and a better quality of life. They make or modify equipment when nothing suitable is available through mainstream sources. Items are tailor-made to be suitable for individual needs and to make a real difference to people’s ability to rise to a particular challenge and achieve something not otherwise possible for them.  www.remap.org.uk

 

christians_aware  Christians Aware (£400)is an international and ecumenical movement aiming to develop multi-cultural understanding, raising awareness of the gifts and needs of God's people everywhere. arthritis-research-ukArthritis Research UK (£400) leads the fight against arthritis and is the biggest funder of research into the cause, treatment and cure of all forms of arthritis in the UK. ridestrideFriends of Essex Churches (£100) is a registered charity set up in 1951 to raise money for grants to repair and restore Christian churches and chapels in Essex and the five London boroughs formerly part of the county: Barking & Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest. chess  Chess (£400) stands for Churches Homeless Emergency Support Scheme. Chelmsford CHESS seeks to relieve homelessness and related hardship and distress amongst single adults in Chelmsford and Essex, through the provision of support services and temporary accommodation that helps them move on in their lives.  http://www.chelmsfordchess.org/

 

Braintree-Area-logoBraintree Area Foodbank (£400) part of The Trussell Trust foodbank network works in partnership with local churches and organisations to bring foodbanks to communities across the UK. A collection box is situated at the back of church for donations. retreat-house-plesheyThe Retreat House (£400) in Pleshey has a very special atmosphere. There has been a place of prayer on this site for 100 years and in the village of Pleshey for over 600 years.
