St BartholomewWickham Bishops is a village of around 2000 people situated in a picturesque part of North Essex and surrounded by some beautiful woods and countryside. St Bartholomew's Church in Wickham Bishops, built in 1850 by the Leigh family, is at the heart of village life.

St Bartholonew's Church Wickham Bishops forms a United Benefice with St Nicholas Little Braxted which was originally built in 1120.  With only 170 people living in the civil parish of Little Braxted it may well be one of the smallest parishes in the county.  Little Braxted Church lies to the east side of the river Blackwater, a little over a mile east of Witham.

Both our churches are open throughout daylight houses and we

are privileged to welcome a good number of visitors, particularly to St Nicholas in Little Braxted with it beautiful and unusual wall decorations.

Around 60 people, drawn from all age groups join us for worship on Sunday morning. Our worship at 10.30 am is a mixture of modern and traditional styles. It is our aim to value each and every member of our church community and to support each other as we live out the Christian life together.  We believe that children are part of our church and children of all ages are welcome to all our services.

There are a number of groups and activities that take place during the week that seek to provide pastoral support, fellowship and nurture in the faith - please do check out the relevant pages on the web site to find out more.

We are very blessed to have an excellent Church Hall that is attached to St Bartholomew's Church and used by a number of community groups as well as for family celebrations and children's birthday parties etc.

Thank you for taking the time to browse our website. If you have any questions or enquiries please do contact one of the ministry team - names and details of the leadership team can be found under the Contact Us page.
